The Concept of Failure

Failure. The grey area of success.

People talk about and deal with failure in many ways. We brush it aside when it occurs and sometimes it really knocks our confidence down. Needless to say that we sometimes lose faith in trying again. There are no secure solutions to dealing with failure. We deal with it differently, depending on the weight of the failure and dependency on success itself. Though we overlook the skills and renewed perspective we gain from it.

The concept of failure is misleading to many, with the idea of shame and embarrassment usually attached to it. This in itself can put off the most motivated of individuals from doing something they so dearly want. I’m trying to change my outlook of failure.Sometimes it’s positive. Sometimes I feel severely disappointed. It’s almost habitual to think that if you fail, you’re a failure. But that isn’t really the case. Many, if not, almost all successful individuals have faced a constant knock of failure bashing away at their door. That should be motivating but when failure welcomes itself at your door it’s rather disappointing.

To fail means you have tried. To fail again, means you’ve tried – again. There is only a certain amount of times you can fail before something changes. One of the best quotes regarding motivation I’ve heard was – to surround yourself with people who are better than you. If you’re with people who are doing less than you, you’ll always assume you’re doing more and better. But if you put yourselves with people who are better than you, you’ll work harder and better. Take the example of a race. If you run with those who are slower, you’ll always think you’re the fastest and won’t work hard to be better. However, if you run with those with much more strength and speed, you’ll fall behind. That doesn’t need to be a bad thing. You might not win, but you’ll work to catch up with them – and your speed with increase.

Sometimes it’s good to take a little risk. Have some autonomy over your decisions.

Today’s Monday’s motivation quote is:
Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly.

So dare to fail.

Fyza.
